OSI RF140 Roof & Flashing Sealant, Black-10/14/2014
Products in this Consumer Product Information Database (CPID) are classified based on their composition:
Substances: single chemicals
Preparations: products which contain chemicals that can be easily separated during normal use
Articles: products or product assemblies that do not contain chemicals that can be separated out from the product or assembly under normal or advertised use.
Classification: Preparation
Indicates country where product is sold.
Market: US/CanadaOSI RF140 Roof & Flashing Sealant is manufactured using a special synthetic rubber and select cuts of asphalts. By combining these two materials, the natural tendency of hardening and softening generally associated with asphalt is modified considerably with the rubber. This allows OSI RF140 to cure into a tough, rubbery stage which will expand and contract more readily during temperature variations. In addition, the adhesion characteristics of the asphalt are augmented with a stable tackifying resin which will provides a lasting and flexible bond to most surfaces. Unlike other roofing cements, OSI RF140 can be applied at temperatures between 20 deg F (-6.67 deg C) and 90 deg F (32 deg C) without difficulty in extrusion. Also, it resists the cracking which is common to most types of plastic roof cements.
Purpose of product.
Usage: Roofing and flashing sealantStructure such as solid, liquid, aerosol etc.

The GHS is an acronym for The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. The GHS is a system for standardizing and harmonizing the classification and labelling of chemicals. Chemicals are associated with codes that define their health, physical and environmental hazards. This universal hazard communication system was developed to ensure that employers, employees and consumers are provided with adequate, practical, reliable and comprehensible information on the hazards of chemicals, so that they can take effective preventive and protective measure for their own health and safety.

EU Hazard Classification Directive 67/548/EECHazard Symbols are used to classify dangerous substances.
Hazard SymbolsRisk Phrases, denoted as a series of numbers preceded by the letter "R" indicate the nature of the special risks, in accordance with Annex III to Directive 67/548/EEC (see Article 23(2)(d) Directive 67/548/EEC). The numbers are separated by either a comma to denote separate statements concerning special risks, or an oblique stroke (/) to denote a combined statement, in a single sentence, of the special risks.
Risk PhrasesSafety Phrases, denoted as a series of numbers preceded by the letter "S" indicating the recommended safety precautions, in accordance with Annex IV to Directive 67/548/EEC. The numbers are separated by either a comma to denote separate statements concerning safety precautions, or an oblique stroke (/) to denote a combined statement, in a single sentence, of the safety precautions.

Warning: this product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defect or other reproductive harm.
Notice: reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational overexposure to solvents with permanent brain, nervous system, liver and kidney damage or may cause cardiac arrhythmia. Intentional misuse by deliberately inhaling the contents may be harmful or fatal -
Acute health effects
From MSDS:
Health Hazard Data
Emergency Overview: Danger: Abrasion could release respirable particles of silica quartz, a cancer hazard by inhalation. Normal use of this product causes no such release. Highly flammable liquid and vapor. Causes skin irritation. Causes serious eye irritation. May cause drowsiness or dizziness.
Potential Health Effects
Routes of Entry: Inhalation, Skin contact.
Eye Contact: Contact with eyes can cause eye irritation. Symptoms may include stinging, tearing, redness, swelling, and blurred vision.
Skin Contact: Prolonged and/or repeated skin contact with this product may cause irritation/dermatitis.
Inhalation: Irritates the nose, throat and respiratory system. Exposure to high doses may cause central nervous system depression. Such doses may also cause adverse effects in the liver, kidneys, and lungs. Abrasion of cured material such as by sanding or grinding could release respirable particles of silica quartz, a cancer hazard by inhalation. Normal use of this product causes no such release. Respirable carbon black is classified as a possible carcinogen. The carbon black present in this product is encapsulated in the liquid mixture and could only be liberated by sanding or abrading. Appropriate precautions should be taken if the product is sanded or abraded to preclude personnel from breathing the dust. Reports have associated repeated and prolonged overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling the contents may be harmful or fatal.
